A Quick Overview To The Advanced Features, An Eero Router Support

There is number of advanced features that are coming in the Eero Setup routers and most of us are unaware of these. Let’s go through these features available under ‘Network settings’ page of Eero app.

Static IP address setup: After successfully configuring the Eero on the network, there is provision for configuring the static IP address through the Eero app. The steps for the same on iOS and android app are:

iOS: Open Eero Wifi Setup app from the home screen of the iOS device and click on ‘Advanced’ from the list of menu. Go to ‘Look for internet connection’.  Double-tap on ‘Static IP’ and enter the information necessary for it.

Android: Go to the Eero app and select the ‘Network settings’. Go to ‘Advanced features’ followed by ‘Internet connection’. Go to ‘Static IP box’ and start configuring it.

DNS: Domain name server can translate the official address into the phone IP address so that it can understand. The internet provider offers DNS server that resolves web addresses. If you want to edit DNS, then go to the app from the phone and change it. In iOS, you can go to ‘Settings’ followed by ‘DNS’ in the advanced features of an app. Click ‘Custom’. In Android, go to ‘DNS’ from ‘Advanced’ settings followed by ‘Custom DNS’. Enter the primary and secondary DNS.

DHCP and NAT: This option is available under the ‘Advanced’ settings of your Eero Support app. You can configure the IP address on the connected devices according to your choice. If you have selected ‘Automatic’ then the address will be assigned automatically. In case you want to customize it, you can do with the help of ‘Manual’ option available on the app itself. Apart from this, you can also configure the router into the Bridge mode. Entering the Mesh system into the bridge mode will no doubt provide the Wi-Fi access but through another router that will serve the purpose of network services.

Reservations and port forwarding: From the ‘Advanced’ settings, provide the IP addresses and port forwarding options on your device through the Eero network. In port forwarding menu, you can pass the traffic directly to the single client by opening the internet port for that dedicated machine only. For instance, if you want to create FTP server on computer or laptop through IP address, then you can use port 21 as a port-forward for redirecting the traffic to the IP address with Eero Update. UPnP: It stands for Universal plug and play which allows the user’s game consoles and media player to open the connections directly on the different devices available on the network. This feature is enabled by default. Yes, you can turn it off by sliding the button to left. It will no longer remain green.
